An important note about the Census

The Vermont Foodbank has asked that we share this.  Please help spread the word.

For the next ten years, the numbers produced in this effort will help determine how over $675 billion will be distributed to states and localities annually through more than 65 federal programs. These programs include grants to first responders, Meals on Wheels, fuel assistance, Medicare, housing rehabilitation, 3SquaresVT (SNAP), WIC, community economic development and housing block grants, Senior Housing Planning, and more.

It is critical that everyone be counted. We are asking you to make it a point to express the importance of the US Census, especially in March and April.

For the first time in history, people will be able to fill out their US Census forms on-line at their convenience. Local libraries are ready and able to offer assistance in this process.

For those who prefer more traditional methods, the Census may also be completed via telephone, or by returning the form, which will come in a separate mailing in April.  Please note that the Census Bureau does not send the forms to post office boxes, and some residents may find it delivered by census workers to their door.

Under federal law (Title 13), all responses are confidential.

This is important, as the results will dictate how federal dollars are allocated to Vermont for the next decade. Please help us spread the word that everybody is important, and everybody counts!
