The Shopping Experience

“What’s it like to shop at the Foodshelf?”

Welcome + Waiting Area

You’ll be greeted by a volunteer in our community waiting room where you can enjoy coffee, puzzles, and occasional live music while you wait.* Take advantage of monthly visits from partner organizations like SEVCA and Putney Community Cares.

Shop the Shelves

The Foodshelf is set up similar to a small grocery store. You can pick out groceries for the week, including milk, eggs, produce, and meat. We encourage you to bring shopping bags, though recycled boxes are available.

Load Up Your Groceries

Volunteers are available to help bring groceries to your car. The building is handicap accessible, with an ADA ramp, ADA bathroom, automatic door opener, and handicap parking on the East side. Home delivery available by request.**

* We are busiest right at opening, so consider coming later if you want to avoid a crowd.

** Home delivery is available to Putney, Dummerston, and Westminster locations only. Contact us to arrange a delivery.
